MiSight is an FDA approved contact lens for near sighted patients between the ages of 8-12. MiSight is frankly magical. MiSight can prevent a nearsighted patient from becoming more nearsighted. Anyone with a strong prescription can tell you that it is uncomfortable to wear think glasses, thick lenses don’t look good, you can be limited as to which glasses can accommodate your lenses, it is a tremendous handicap to wake up and not be able to see well. But you may not know that there are medical consideration to a high prescription: highly nearsighted eyes are at a significantly higher risk for retinal detachments as well as glaucoma. For the first time ever, we now have the ability to stop a child’s nearsighted prescription from getting worse over time.
